Alinea is an investing app with a mission to empower GenZ to invest and grow their wealth. Alinea guides the users toward intelligent investment decisions with automated investment options & real-time market insights.
One of the main challenges that users faced when it came to investing their money in the stock market was a lack of understanding regarding how the stock market operates, which often lead to hesitancy in investing their money due to fear of potential loss and uncertainty.
How might we help users gain a better understanding of investing in the stock market so they can feel more secure and confident in their investment decisions?
Investing 101 guides serves the purpose of educating beginner users and first time investors about the basics of investing in the stock market and providing an introduction to the app to help users become more familiar with its features and functionality.
We designed the investing guides to mimic Instagram stories as it enabled us to present the information in bite-sized, easy-to-consume format. By breaking down complex financial concepts into smaller, more digestible pieces, we aimed to enhance users' learning experience and help them better understand the information provided. Additionally, this approach made the guides more visually appealing and engaging. Since users are accustomed to swiping through stories, they were more likely to interact with and explore the content.
The current version of the investing 101 guides only provide basic information and answer some of the frequently asked questions about investing. To improve the effectiveness of the guide in educating users, real time market data and charts can be used to show users how to analyze stock prices, trends, and financial metrics using live data.
I learned a lot along the way while working at Alinea. The value of effective teamwork, identifying opportunities, providing and receiving feedback. Most importantly, I learned that empathy plays a crucial role in any design process. It allows us to prioritize user needs and make informed design decisions that align with their preferences.
